
DAYTON BEACH, FLA. - Dean R. Hoppmann, age 71, died at the
Emory L. Bennett Veterans Home, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. He
was born in Madison on Feb. 8, 1931, and attended East High School and later
graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Dean was an excellent basketball
player and loved softball which he played for many years. He retired five years
ago and enjoyed the beaches of Florida. Dean is survived by his children, David
of Washington, D.C., Dianne of New York City, Douglas of Daytona, Fla. and Susan
of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving is his sister, Donna Olday of Madison, brothers,
Ron Hoppmann of Middleton and Jerry Hoppmann of Port St. Lucie, Fla; and sister,
Joyce Pixley of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Dean's close friends (the dirty half dozen:
Wood, Prescott, Bowen, Zamzow, Hoppmann and Serstad) will miss him greatly.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters. A
small service was held in Daytona Beach and Dean's ashes will be spread, according
to his wishes on San Francisco Bay.
