MADISON - Duane Julius Hoveland, age 73, of Madison, passed away
on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. He
was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Black Earth, Wis., the son of Julius and Anna Hoveland.
He married Carol Segebrecht on Aug. 24, 1962, in Hope Lutheran Church. Duane
graduated from Madison East High School in 1949. He served in the US
Army. He owned and operated Superior Electronics for over 20 years. Duane was
a charter member of Hope Rod and Gun Club, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved
his Honda Gold Wing, antique cars, working in his yard and lawnmowing, his cat,
Cocoa and his dog, Lassie. He especially loved spending time with his family and
friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol; three daughters, Tera (Butch) Soltis,
Tammy Hoveland, and Kris (Bill) Sorenson; seven grandchildren, Tom, Chad, Brian,
Autumn, Curt, Cody, and Taylor; a great-grandchild, Peyton; a sister, JoAnn Pangalos;
his first wife, Marilynn Mickelson, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be at GUNDERSON
EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at 7 p.m. with
the Rev. Robert Garbrecht officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of
the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The family
